Hearing that Nebraska fell through, but, we will be playing against the University of Pittsburgh on Heinz Field in September. Should be fun.
Go Runnin' Bulldogs!

Good to play up there before that field turns to dirt by late October for sure. Furman went up there a few years ago and nearly pulled the upset.

Hello there.
Hey, you all and Tenn. Tech both seem to have a common open date of Oct. 13th. The two AD's should get together ASAP, and work out a home and home.........

Welcome...
I think Tenn Tech actually backed out of a home/home series with us a few years ago, the situation may not be amicable.
I don't think we want our open date on Oct. 13 between the Liberty and Stony Brook road games used, and would much rather have a game on Sept. 29.
I saw a week or so ago where D-2 Valdosta State had an opening on Sept. 29, but they filled it with Edwards Waters College.
I dread to think we sink as low as another NAIA opponent on the schedule this fall, but the options are limited at this point, unless Dickerson has an ace up his sleeve.

Hi everyone I am new to the message boards so I thought I would take time to post on here with a question. First off my name is Robert, and I am wondering if wether or not buying tickets to games this upcoming fall would or would not be a good investment? I have 2 kids and myself and it has gotten rather expensive to go to see big time college football. I have been to a couple of basketball games me and my kids enjoyed ourselves, but we have'nt been to a football game and was wanting some feedback befre football begings later on. Thanks, this is a great website with lots of passionate fans!

Welcome to the boards Robert. Come to the first game against Wofford and you will see the atmosphere for yourself. lots of space and safe for the kids. We tailgate behind the visitor side under the trees and you are more than welcome to join our group for a day of good fellowship. About 40 or so passionate fans( mostly players family). Hang out after the game and you will be able to meet a lot of the players. First game is at 6 and I will be there all day. Hope to see you then. Depending on the age of your kids about 30 bucks for tickets.

Again, G-W dragging out the release of the football schedule, which seems to have become a time honored tradition.
One of two things is happening...(1) they are close to getting another money game or more likely (2) they are scrambling to get a Virginia State level NAIA fodder team in here for another home game.
According to championshipsubdivision.com, the only other FCS team with any sort of open date left to fill is Fordham of the Patriot League, currently listing dates on Oct. 13 and Oct. 20, that would mean a game between the road games at LU and Stony Brook, and possibly three straight on the road, but at this point, beggars can't be choosers. Making back-to-back weekend road trips to the NYC metro area wouldn't be a fun thing either.

slim pickings to say the least.....in essence, we have had only two spots to fill since the end of last season since the core of the schedule was is place then, and have failed miserably to do so....

The 2012 Schedule regardless of what happens with the 11th game may be the best overall or close to it since G-Dubb moved up to FCS. With that said, you gotta question what is so dang hard about filling the 11th game with at least a mediocre or lower level FCS program. Roughly 99% of the other FCS programs have gotten their schedules locked down in the last quarter if not before. I don't know why we perennially have such difficulty but AD Birch, it's your responsibility and it would be illuminating for you to share what the difficulties have been. I know that we have an unusual situation with only 6 conference games but with the about to be announcements, that may only get worse. There are many rumors floating around with some sure to be true that Liberty, Coastal, Stony Brook and maybe even VMI looking at new conference affiliations. Big South Football appears to be in jeopardy, at least the AQ. Won't affect this season but 2013 who knows.

Still no news? Hell, at this rate, we'll have next season's mens hoops schedule before the football one gets released!
