Yes, saw that too. Kurt is the son of former NFL General Manager great Bobby Beathard who was part of 3 Redskins Super Bowl Teams and had a long and highly regarded career in the League. The hire of a new O-line coach hopefully will be announced soon. Are there other coaching staff changes to anticipate beyond the hires to fill those spots left by the departures of Assistant Coaches Ledford - OL, Foster - RB and Ward - WR?

Better not get away from the run.... Sure would hate to see them try to put in the spread.

With the core of RB's that we have, I can't imagine us getting away from the run.

Many schools do this now and I believe it is a gimmick to do one of two things: 1. At larger schools it is done so that more assistant coaches can get multiyear contracts with guaranteed buyouts to provide them with some amount of security in a job that never had any in the past [South Carolina does this]; or 2. entice a coach to come to a smaller/ mid-level school by providing them with a title and some responsibility to enhance their resume and help them find a better job in the future [the more likely GWU scenario]. In both instances, the head coach or another high assistant is likely keeping his finger on the trigger and demanding a run play or a pass play and overruling decisions - ie. serving as the offensive coordinator.
At our level, I think an offensive coordinator will have some value.

Is it true that Ron Dickerson Sr. is now the new Director of Football Operations, replacing Doggett? And any ideas of who the next WR coach will be?

I'm hearing a lot of positive things about Coach Beathard from the players that really matter. I'm really looking forward to the Thursday scrimmage.

A couple of players said they seen former nfl wide receiver Willie Green last week while they were lifting weights. anyone has any idea if he was there interviewing for the WR job? I heard he lives in Shelby and coached last year in ala.

There's been reports of Willie Green being part-owner of Deer Brook Golf Club, located north Shelby where N. Post Road joins Hwy 18. He may live there too. And, he may own three check-cashing franchises with his wife Dena, which may be in the area.

His son plays on my nephew baseball team at Burns Middle School, my brother sent me this article (http://www.shelbystar.com/articles/nfl-60220-coaching-former.html). If he is back from AR, he would be a great addition to the players. I hear he is very good with working with athletes and is well respected in the community. Coach Dickerson should hire him, he would be a great addition and can help recruit players from this area instead of them going to App Sate, UNCC and Lenior Ryne.
